Ingredients:
Thoor Dal – ½ cup
Channa dal – ½ cup
Tomato – 1 (cut it into 4 pieces)
Onion – 1 (cut it into 4 pieces)
Garlic – 4 cloves
Salt to taste
Tempering:
Oil – 2 tsp
Onion – 1 small (chopped finely)
Cumin / jeera – 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds – ½ tsp
Fennel seeds – ½ tsp
Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Curry leaves – 1 strand
Hing / Asafoetida – ¼ tsp
Turmeric powder – ½ tsp
Red chili powder – 1tsp
Coriander powder – 1 ½ tsp
Method:
- Pressure cook the ingredients thoor dal, channa dal, onion, tomato & garlic for 3 – 4 whistle.
- Now start to tempering, once the mustard seeds spluttered, add cumin, fennel seeds & curry leaves.
- Now add the finely chopped onions, turmeric, red chili, coriander powder and saute until raw flavour goes off.
- Finely add the pressure cooked dal mixture and cook until the mixture gets thicken.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro leaves.
- Serve hot & enjoy it with the combination of steamed rice and rasam.
